This firearm, which is used by the Self-Defense Forces under the name '5.56mm Machine Gun Minimi', is a Japan-licensed model of the Belgian FN-MINIMI. It is a firearm that can fire the same ammunition as the main rifle Type 89 rifle, and is widely used in machine guns carried by ordinary units, as well as for vehicles such as light armored mobile vehicles and UH-1 door guns.
